Australian Cattle Dog/Blue Heeler / Mixed : : Male : : Adult : : Medium
Stevie is a gorgeous Australian Cattle Dog....a blue heeler, probably between 2 and 3 years of age. He was found wandering in the country, has been treated for heartworm and is ready for his forever home. ACDs are fantastic dogs who are extremely intelligent and adore their families. They are "velcro" dogs, but can be a little aloof with strangers. They are herding dogs, so enjoy having a job. They are capable of learning commands easily as they are praise motivated and very smart. Think of Skid Boot from the Letterman show....he is an ACD. Since they are herders they do bark, and can get into trouble if not kept in a secure area. I have known several who were escape artists, but they usually just want to be near their people. They like to keep their peeps in their circle, so will herd kids, other animals, etc. ACDs make absolutely fantastic pets, but these are not quiet little lap dogs. If you love sharing activities with your dog, this is a great breed. The person who wrote..."I want to become the person my dog thinks that I am" could have been speaking about an ACD.
