Hi! Our family adopted Axel from ARF-LA about 6 months ago. We were looking for a larger, protective dog with a very calm disposition who loved people and especially children. We were cautious about who to adopt from - we had heard horror stories about dogs who were really sick and dying, and certain agencies/animal control facilities keeping that information from the family adopting. However, the first time I took him to the vet, the doctor was impressed with Axel's excellent health! Axel is 5 years old and half greyhound, half German Shepherd. He has been as absolute joy! He is loyal and obedient. Everyone who comes to our home falls in love with him.  And I am not a very experienced dog owner, but it was so obvious that Axel was excited and appreciative about being a part of a new home. He does not try to run away AT ALL and is incredibly smart. He loves to run right beside me during my morning runs and doesn't pull on his leash (unless he sees a squirrel!), plays in the neighborhood with all of the children, and loves affection. We were not expecting this transition to be so effortless. And anytime I had a question about Axel, ARF-LA was quick to answer my question as best they could! We can not say enough wonderful things about this experience. We highly recommend anyone considering a pet, to view ARF-LA's animals! Our family is 100% satisfied. We can not imagine our family without Axel.
